One’s inclination when ones clothing catches fire is to run around waving their arms wildly to douse the flames. By slowing down and being mindful of our actions, it’s easy to remember to stop, drop and roll.

    Darrel DeBoer will be discussing sustainable building techniques, will cover various materials used, identify local resources and show finished products

    6:30 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 22 at the Alameda Main Library, 1550 Oak Street.

    He was named by Metropolitan Home magazine in 2001 as one of the 100 most influential designers, and Natural Home magazine in July of 2005 cited DeBoer as one of the top 10 “Green Architects”.     Bryan Steele will discuss the two forms of solar; photovoltaics and solar thermal; and will explain the concept of solar potential

    Steele is a solar design consultant for one of the Bay Area’s oldest, and one of the nation’s largest, solar design/installation companies, Sun Light and Power. Steele also has authored one book and numerous news and opinion pieces for the largest newspapers in California. With two years experience as a senior consultant to the California Legislature coupled with almost a decade of commercial banking experience, Steele brings a solid understanding of government and finance to the world of solar.
