One night Only

December 14, 2007

Last night’s Alameda Point meeting was a breath of fresh air. Close to 200 people attended (this is my guesstimate) and got involved in solid discussions about building at the Point. The concepts presented were high level (no specifics, just concepts) and after a solid presentation by Peter Calthorpe, the group broke up into the…

Dream

December 7, 2007

Quick, think about Alameda Point. What’s it going to look like? It’s a pretty abstract concept really, and difficult to picture in one’s head. Does it all look like South Shore? Or Harbor Bay? Or heaven forbid, Park Street? Chances are, the more you think about it, the more variety of areas there are, it’s…

Survey Says!

June 28, 2007

In January/February, the city’s Development Services department conducted a Phone Survey of Alamedans in advance of the Economic Development Strategic Plan Update that the Economic Development Commission (EDC) is working on. There’s lots of interesting information included in it, including the fact that 83% of Alamedans don’t feel that protecting historical structures at Alameda Point…

Tell it to the man!

June 15, 2007

While Alice Cooper didn’t get it exactly right, the school has not been blown to pieces, most kids in Alameda are starting summer vacation. AUSD kids end up with an extra week of summer break this year, some sort of scholastic leap year deal I guess. It’s a great time to get kids out on…
